Larry Cornett
Executive Director
Larry has over 20 years of experience running a business or non-profit organization. He most recently was the Vice President of Cambridge Lakes Schools in Pingree Grove, IL. As Vice President he supervised the Principals and all support staff at the school. He also oversaw the daily operations of the organization including security, technology, communications, committees, parent relations (volunteerism), and fund raising events. During his time at Cambridge Lakes Schools, he was on the Northern Kane Educational Corp Board of Directors and Finance Committee. Parents and Teachers acknowledged Larry was greatly appreciated for his hard work and dedication while at Cambridge Lakes Schools.
Prior to this position, Larry was the CEO of the YMCA of Jefferson County, IL for over seven years. At the YMCA he supervised over 40 part time and full time employees. He managed the day to day operations of the YMCA facility. Larry was responsible for membership acquisition and relations, as well as, the financial management of the YMCA. He oversaw all YMCA adult and youth sports programs as well as directed the afterschool programs for the schools in Jefferson County. In 2014 Larry was the recipient of the Presidential Citation Award given by the State of Illinois School Superintendents Association for his work and advancement of the Afterschool Programs in Jefferson County.
Larry has enjoyed living in the area for four years with his wife and two daughters, who are both attending college. He is excited to become the Executive Director of the Huntley Area Chamber of Commerce at a time of such significant business and population growth. He is honored to be chosen as the Executive Director starting May of 2019 and plans to work hard to meet the needs of the community.
